PE #1

Goals:

  • Increase speaking speed to a more natural rate while still maintaining proper pronunciation
  • Get better at changing pitch rather than intensity
  • Improve hiragana reading speed
Activities:

  • 15 minutes of shadowing per day
  • Read hiragana texts aloud for 15 minutes per day (to improve reading speed, not for comprehension)

そうですか。I have trouble with pitch and intensity too! It's very different, switching from physically stressing maybe one word in a sentence to now spiking the pitch in each one (for English). But we'll both be fine, no doubt.

  3. I find that writing the ひらがな and カタカナ is also very challenging. I'm still slow at the reading, of course, but I can barely keep up writing for dictations. So don't forget to practice writing in addition to reading - try dictating the CD conversations.

  4. テンジさん!こんにちは:)
Hmm... I wonder what the protocol is for saying hello in mediums through which you aren't sure when the other person will be reading it. 「こんにちは」seems safe because its the most generic, but it is technically the time of day for 「おはようございます」. I should ask the せんせいs about that later today. Anyway, your goals for this PE cycle sound great. We should practice our Japanese together sometime! 一緒に日本語を勉強しましょう!
